About Flow-Induced Pulsation (FLIP) Testing
Pressure pulsation in a pipe can be caused by compressors, pumps or by flow past side branches and other features. These pulsations excite the pipe and can cause strong vibration, noise and, over time, fatigue cracks.
FLIP testing measures the pulsation and the pipe response together, so the source can be identified and a practical remedy considered.
What it helps find or fix
- Pulsation from reciprocating compressors and pumps
- Flow-excited resonance at branches and fittings
- Pipework that vibrates at certain loads or flows
Benefits
- Identifies the source of pipe vibration
- Reduces the risk of fatigue failure in pipework
- Supports decisions on supports, orifices and modifications
Delivered by certified specialists
